Pulsation Dampeners for Oil Pipelines
The pumping operation of a pulsation dampener pump can induce pressure pulsations during normal operation. The pump’s strokes produce cyclical “pulses” of pressure spikes within the system that can cause the pipeline’s ancillary components to suffer damage or fail completely. The solution to this, along with the associated high noise and vibration during the “pulses,” can be found from Young Engineering’s line of pulsation control products.
A suction dampener, installed close to the pump’s inlet, will reduce the potential for Cavitation (dangerous vapor pockets in a flowing liquid) which is a frequent cause of pump damage.
A pulsation dampener, installed close to the discharge side of the pump, will serve to reduce PD pump generated pressure “pulses.” This will decrease mechanical vibration and noise within the pipeline and reduce wear.
Maintenance free suction and discharge dampeners function by using a combination of gas and liquid contained within the dampener to absorb the energy of the “pulses” and eliminate their threat to the pipeline’s components.
