Surge Tanks

Young Engineering’s Surge Tanks (ST) absorb and control surge energies created by backflows in pipelines when a pump stops, or during sudden pressure changes. These events can create stress in vulnerable components of piping systems and decrease systems component life cycle.

Large-capacity Surge Tanks are used in water pumping stations, municipal water applications, and fuel handling installations. Standard sizes ranges from 150 to 50,000 gallons with design pressures of 275 and 500 psi. Our surge tanks include supports built to UBC seismic standards for the location of the tank. All Surge Tanks are designed, manufactured and tested in accordance with ASME. Horizontal and vertical BST models are available.

All of Young Engineering’s products can be designed and manufactured to fit your exact specifications.
